I've never been so scared in my life. Twinkie, my beloved kitty who is 18 years old, had a seizure and I could do nothing for her. My first indication that something was wrong was when something ran into my vanity table twice. At first I thought it was my dog and other cat playing around, so I yelled them to cut it out. But then, I saw they where in the other room, so I got up to see what was happening.

Twinkie was lying on her back her legs twitching and flaying in all directions as her body convulsed. Her tongue was hanging out her mouth and her eyes were rolled back in her head.

I tried to calm her, but of course that didn't work. So I swept her up in my arms and held her. Running downstais, I screamed at my husband to call the vet. He stood there just staring for a minute and a screamed again. "My cat is having a seizure, call the vet. Now." He just kept saying he didn't know the number, and then my poor sweet kitty lost control of her bladder and peed all over me and floor. Finally, he picked up the phone and called information. So I went upstairs, still cuddling Twinkie and changed into a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt.

When I came back downstairs, he had gotten the number, but instead of calling the vet, he come over to look at Twink. Again, I scream for him to call the vet, because she is still convulsing. When he get the vet's office, he says very calmly, "Hello, this is Mr. Grant, and we have a slight problem." I grab the phone from him. "Hello, this is Lori Beth Grant. Twinkie is having a seizure." A little more conversation, and then I hang up and tell Donn we have to take her in. He goes and combs his hair and I think he brushed his teeth, before finally putting his coat on.

Anyway, even though I don't want to put Twink down, I know she rides in the car better if she's in her carrier. So in she goes. We get in the van, and he sits there for a while letting the darn vehicle warm up.

At this point, I'm furious and scared out of my mind. I want to strangle him, but opt instead to scream some more. He couldn't have driven any more slowly if he tried.

Finally, we reach the vet. The assistant brings a towel to wrap Twink in while I cuddle her, so they can clean her crate which she soiled in on the way. Of course, there really wasn't anything they could do for her. It obviously was more for my peace of mind that we went. They checked her over. She could have a tumor or it cold be caused by her hyperthyroidism, but she is so frail, they thought the necessary tests might be too traumatic for her. Watch her and comfort her when it happens again.

When? You mean this is going to happen again? Well, of course it's possible. She's had one, more than likely she'll have another one. But they assured me that it is very rare for a cat to die from a seizure.

So, we take her home. She doesn't want to be held, she doesn't want to sleep. Instead, she wanders around bumping into walls. I know she can't hear, but now I wonder if she can see. I also wonder if she didn't have a stroke during the seizure, because she cannot find her litter. I've found two puddles, one in the kitchen and one in the pantry, both very far from her litter box.

Now she is sleeping peacefully, but I am still compelled to check on her often. I don't want to leave her alone, and yet at the same time, I don't want to see her go through that again.

Oh, and I'm still angry with my husband. It may take me a long time to get over that.

I figured it out!

Sometimes inspiration hits at the most unusual times. I had thought I had the ending of my current manuscript all figured out. That is, until the hero and the heroine decided to have sex earlier than planned. Pesky characters, always exerting their own agenda! Why do I always get the characters who won't listen to my directions?

I lamented my woes of not knowing what to do with my characters now that they had done it to my CP, and she suggested swimming. My real problems was, how to get them out of bed and unhappy again. Then it came to me with her help, my hero had to decide he didn't want her to leave Italy--ever--and my heroine had to become refocused on her job in New York.

I don't want to tell you the ending, but I'm very excited that the new way ties in very nicely with my rewritten first scene. My heroine became very career focused in the rewrite, where she wasn't in the original. Additionally, with this ending I get to let my heroine see a darker, more angry side, of my hero, which she hasn't seen before. It's been hinted at throughout the book, so it won't a surprise.

Well, I have to get back to writing now that I have a new direction! Talk to you later.

Friday Snuck Up On Me!

All day long I was thinking today was Thursday! I almost missed getting today's inspiration posted. Good thing I spoke to my sister-in-law and she said something about it being Friday. I don't want to disappoint you two weeks in a row!!

So here we go. I went searching for some new talent to inspire you, and I think I found something nice. I think maybe I should have called this Distraction Friday instead of Inspiration Friday! haha! I know I get distracted easily by it!!

Well, now I need to get back to writing. Enjoy!!

Sorry! Missed Yesterday's Inspiration

Sorry about missing yesterday's inspiration. I wasn't feeling well, and I have my niece and nephew for the weekend. There is just something exhausting about having a seven-year-old and four-year-old around when you aren't used to having kids in your house.

Anyway...here is yesterday's inspiration today!

I should be editing, but I'd rather talk to you

This is my week to do editing, and I've found just about everything to do but editing. Romance Divas is having a best opening scene contest, so I've been reading all the entries. I've only judged a few, but there is some good stuff there. So far, only one person has judged my entry, but that person gave me some very complimentary comments. I still have to send her a private message to ask for some suggestions, but I'll wait to do that.

Oh, I changed the title of my current work in progress. I'm not going to post the original name, because of my entry on Romance Divas, but the new name is "A Model Lover." I concluded that my title wasn't compelling when I wasn't getting many people viewing my entry. And, I thought, if the title wasn't catching the Divas' attention, then it might not catch an agent's or a publisher's attention either.

I finished the first love scene in AML. My CP says it's good, but I'm still not happy with it. I've been reading quite a bit of romantica, which is much more explicit than the genre I'm writing, so I'm going to pull out some mainstream contemporary romances and read the love scenes. I might just be unhappy with it because I've been reading a different genre than I'm writing.

Thursday and Friday, I will be on a temporary assignment. That's a very short assignment, but the company I'll be working at requested me, so that's nice. I wish I could get a longer assignment, so I could bring some money in. Christmas time is not the time to be without an income.

Speaking of Christmas, it has not entered my house yet. We don't have any decorations or a tree up. I have not done any shopping. Finances are tight, and I just don't feel in the mood to do any of it. Now that I think about it, I haven't been in the mood for Christmas for several years. This is weird, because I always loved Christmas. My brother's kids are coming over this weekend, maybe they will help me get into the Christmas spirit.

Well, I guess it is time to stop procrastinating. My editing isn't getting done when I’m talking to all of you. Merry Christmas, Bahumbug, and all that stuff!

What Kind of Chocolate Are You?

I took this little quiz on a whim. It is so accurate in its description of me.

You are Milk Chocolate

A total dreamer, you spend most of your time with your head in the clouds.
You often think of the future, and you are always working toward your ideal life.
Also nostelgic, you rarely forget a meaningful moment... even those from long ago.

It's Friday! Time for some Inspiration

Yesterday, I went searching for some inspiration just for today. Let me tell you, I found enough to keep us inspired for a few months.

Today, however, I am determined to be productive. Finishing Chapter 16 is my main objective. I have to. My hero and heroine are tired of being teased. And, quite frankly, I want to see if my hero is really as hot as he seems to be!

Here's the thing though. They're in Italy. That's good, very romantic. They're in a vineyard villa. Even better, even the word villa conjures up images of romance and being at a vineyard doesn't hurt either. The villa however is in his family's home where his mamma, papa, nonna, nonno, sister and various other relatives live. Not good. How do you stage a romantic seduction when well meaning family members keep interrupting?

Ah, well, there'd be no challenge if it were easy.
